The Director of Education will lead and oversee the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality educational programming for preschool and Day Treatment Intensive (DTI) services. This role ensures that all educational services are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with state and federal regulations. The Director will supervise multidisciplinary teams, collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership, and serve as a key liaison with community partners, school districts, and regulatory agencies.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Development

  • Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum and instructional strategies for preschool and DTI programs.
  • Ensure compliance with California Department of Education (CDE), Community Care Licensing (CCL), and Department of Mental Health (DMH) standards.
  • Integrate trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches into educational programming.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives and data-driven decision-making.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Recruit, train, and supervise education staff including teachers, aides, and education coordinators.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development aligned with best practices in early childhood and therapeutic education.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture.

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Partner with clinical teams to ensure coordinated care and individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Serve as a liaison with school districts, regional centers, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in local and state education forums and advocacy efforts.

Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee program budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance with all licensing and funding requirements.
  • Lead site readiness for audits, licensing visits, and accreditation processes.

Job Qualifications:

Required

  • Master's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in early childhood education or special education, preferably in a nonprofit or therapeutic setting.
  • Knowledge of DTI programming, IEP processes, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Strong understanding of California education and mental health regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • California Administrative Services Credential or equivalent.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or other languages spoken in the community.
  • Experience working with underserved or high-needs populations.
