Learn more about the Job:
Under the supervision of the Intensive Coordinator, the Intensive Field Capable Clinical Services (IFCCS) Parent Partner works closely with caregivers due to their lived experience to provide support, education, advocacy and participate as a member of the treatment team. The IFCCS Parent Partner provides field-based support services in the home, community, or other location convenient for the caregiver. Also, Parent Partner will complete Outcome Measure Application (OMA) with caregiver. Assists in developing and ongoing support of the advisory board for IFCCS services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to build protective capacity with families and Core Practice Indicators (engagement, teaming, assessment and understanding, long term view, planning, cultural competence, transitions, crisis management).
- Maintains 65% billable service delivery (26/wk.) 3 hours/day
- Complete all documentation requirements per DMH guidelines and AFK policies with all progress notes completed within 24 hours.
- Develops peer support and encouragement with families to participate in the IFCCS process.
- Assists the Therapist in developing the comprehensive, written treatment plan and a Crisis Response Plan identifying and linking the client and family's needs and strengths with the goals negotiated with the client and family.
- Assesses the family's readiness for plan implementation, and coordinates their participation with the Therapist.
- Under collaboration of the Therapist, intervenes by telephone or in person with the caregiver in an emergency crisis to provide support and assistance in problem resolution.
- Develops parent advocating training programs and conducts sessions to improve communication and the knowledge base of families with the treatment system
- Provides interventions for the client and family to improve client's behavioral outcomes as indicated on the treatment plan, and makes recommendations on flex fund allocations to the Therapist.
- Monitors the family's ability to follow the Crisis Response Plan and their needs for flex funds, reporting these to the therapist.
- Participates in the Child and Family Team meetings and activities.
- Interacts with clients and staff as needed in the coordination of services
- Complete Outcome Measure Application (OMA) baseline with caregiver and stay on schedule for completing 3 month OMA.
- As a mandated reporter, we must follow child abuse reporting guidelines and report all suspicions of child abuse and/or neglect.
- Must be able to work a flexible and varied schedule.
Job Qualifications:
Experience
- Biological or adoptive parent of a child with special needs.
- Experience and/or involvement with either the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Child and Family Services, or Probation.
- Parent Partners must not have an open probation/DCFS case for at least one year (1).
- Complete the basic IFCCS Training, IHBS/ICC and Share Core Practice, from LA County DMH.
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid California driver's license.
Knowledge/Skills
- Bilingual Spanish language speaking, reading, writing required.
- Maintains confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients.
- Maintains positive communication with all agency staff, clients, and visitors.
- Exercises good judgement in performance of duties and responsibilities.
- Supports existing agency policies, principles, and mission.
- Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with seriously emotionally disturbed children, other staff, physicians, and the public.
- Demonstrated understanding of psychiatric illness and its treatment.
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of community services and county agencies.
